Our Rating

The overall rating is based on review by our experts

8
  • Phone Rate 8 / 10

Xiaomi Poco F3 is the real new start for the Xiaomi sub-brand, as the company described it as a mighty phone that is currently the best alternative on the market for Poco X3 Pro which was also recently revealed. Despite the transformation of Poco phones from the economy class to the middle class, the phones still maintain those great cheap prices, which is one of the main reasons why we fell in love with Poco since its inception.

From the first look at the specs, the Poco F3 looks like a really cool phone and an excellent buy. It has a flagship processor, an AMOLED display that supports 120Hz refresh rate and a luxurious design which are things you wouldn't expect in a phone at this price.

But what about the specifications and price of Xiaomi Poco F3 and other details of the phone and whether it is worth recommending it to our readers or not.

Xiaomi Poco F3 Price

The price of the Xiaomi Poco F3 is one of the most prominent features of the phone, as the 6 + 128 GB version is sold in global markets and Europe for 329 dollars, while the price of that version in Egypt is 6400 pounds, the higher version 8 + 256 GB is priced at 399 dollars in most markets International, while that copy is sold in Egypt for 7000 pounds.

The phone was revealed on March 22, 2021, while it was officially launched on the market starting from March 27, and it is available in almost most countries, which is a good sign that Poco wants to attract many users and create great popularity in the middle class, which we are confident that the company will achieve sooner or later. .

Design

If you take a look at the design of the Poco F3, you will be completely confused by the price of the phone, since that design may be seen in a phone at twice the price, due to the front end and the glass back panel, which is a clear upgrade compared to the X3 Pro, life is not completely rosy, there is still A plastic frame surrounds the screen.

It is worth noting that the back of the phone looks like a mirror and reflects sunlight clearly, this is only available in white, if you do not want that, you can choose between black or blue. We did not have the problem of fingerprinting the phone, and the fact that the phone is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 on the back panel, will make the user rest assured to use the phone without any case.

One of the downsides to the design is that the rear camera module protrudes significantly from the back of the phone, which makes it difficult to use the phone on a table. The silicone case included in the phone's packaging does a good job of concealing that protrusion, even if it comes at the cost of covering up the beautiful design.

The other design note is the SIM tray. There's only room for a single SIM here, no dedicated microSD card slot to expand internal storage, and the 3.5mm headphone jack has been dispensed with.

Display

Here we have an excellent 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. The screen is not only distinguished by its type or resolution, but also by its rich and vibrant color quality and an excellent level of detail.

It also supports a leading refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which makes the using experience very smooth. You can only choose between 120 and 60 Hz in the settings, but the screen can be adjusted dynamically according to the content displayed on the screen. This should help preserve battery life, which is negative when the 120Hz refresh rate is selected.

The gaming experience on the Poco F3 screen is quite good, which is what you should expect from a Poco phone in the middle class, as the device can be relied on instead of buying a dedicated gaming phone like Red Magic 6.

The display is surrounded by some very thin bezels, giving the device a high screen-to-body ratio. There is a 20-megapixel front camera located inside the central hole in the middle of the screen, which is useful to the user when using the feature to unlock the phone by facial recognition, which works well.

We have a fingerprint sensor installed on the side specifically on the power button, which is very fast and clearly better than the fingerprint sensors that are located under the screen in most mid-range phones, so we hope that more companies will adopt this feature.

Internal hardware

The Poco F3 has an excellent design and a high-quality screen, but the performance is where the phone really stands out. The Poco phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor. It's not better than the Snapdragon 888 for sure, but it will perform better than the Snapdragon 865 Plus that we saw last year in the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series.

Given that the phone comes at a price of less than $ 350, the user can not claim anything else, we also have 6 or 8 GB RAM next to the Adreno 650 GPU, although the standard version comes with 6 GB RAM but that will not constitute any Difficulties at all for the user.

In our testing of the phone we had no problems browsing the web or social networking sites and all other daily tasks, the performance of the phone was excellent in games as well, we did not feel any problems in games that require high graphics such as Call of Duty: Mobile and Asphalt 9, and we also enjoyed the experience of Playing due to the refresh rate of 120Hz although it is not supported in all games.

We also have 5G support, which is a feature that you will not find in most phones of this price category. The only comment is on the internal storage space. The user who stores all his data on the phone may have difficulty relying on the 128 GB version, so we see that he will be forced to buy a 256 GB version. Since there is no support to install an external memory card in order to expand the internal storage space.

Camera

The photography experience in Poco phones is usually sacrificed in order for the phone to come with a powerful internal hardware. This strategy works well in the economy category, but it is difficult for the user to accept it in that price category.

On the whole, the F3's cameras look very similar to the cheaper X3 Pro. They both share the same 48MP primary camera along with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, but the Poco F3 comes with an upgraded 5MP macro camera instead of 2MP and excludes the depth sensor altogether. This is an excellent move from Poco because these sensors rarely add much to a photographic experience.

Overall, the Poco F3 will take very impressive pictures with excellent dynamic range and vivid colors which makes the camera ideal for landscapes and especially the ultra-wide lens, although it is useful in many shooting scenarios.

The portrait mode based on the software is also very special, which proves that the depth sensor found in most phones of this price category is usually not necessary. The negative point about the rear camera is the macro sensor, as we found it difficult to adjust the camera focus when approaching an object, but the user will probably be able to take some nice pictures if they are willing to be patient.

There's also a dedicated night mode, which does a decent job of taking photos in low-light conditions. The 20MP front camera is also great and takes beautiful selfies and is among the best compared to the rest of the competitors. In terms of video, the phone can record in 4K quality at 30 frames per second.

Battery

Xiaomi Poco F3 looks positive so far but when it comes to battery the user can only be frustrated with the battery life. The phone comes with a battery with a capacity of 4520 mAh, which is significantly less than the phones of this price category that come with batteries with a capacity of 5000 mAh.

The user will struggle to get a full day of usage even if the usage is moderate as the phone must be charged at least twice a day. This is mostly due to the 120Hz AMOLED display that consumes a lot of power, but lowering the refresh rate to 60Hz didn't fix it either.

If you are in a hurry and your phone battery is also about to run out, you don't need to put it on the charger for long. There is a 33W charger included that can charge up to 72% of the battery in just 30 minutes, and fully charge the battery in an hour.

Poco F3 Pros and Cons

  • Excellent design and made of strong materials, which ensures more durability and security for the phone
  • The phone is water and dust resistant, which is good in this price category
  • Excellent screen, first of all because it's AMOLED and it supports a leading refresh rate making it an ideal choice for watching multimedia
  • Peak brightness is perfect which makes the screen perform perfect under sunlight
  • A layer of protection on the screen
  • A powerful and flagship processor capable of giving the user the best possible user experience and handling heavy games and applications
  • Good rear camera, especially the main sensor
  • Stereo headphones, which we rarely find in most competing phones
  • Fingerprint sensor is fast
  • Good availability in the markets
  • No 3.5mm jack
  • Wired earphones are not included in the phone package
  • There is no possibility to install an external memory card so the 256 GB version would be ideal
  • We were hoping the battery would come with a bigger capacity because the current battery doesn't last long enough
