Qualcomm has officially announced the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, which is expected to power some of the flagship phones that will be launched next year.
But what are the upcoming phones that will use this new processor? We now have one brand officially confirmed, and we expect to hear more from Android phone makers over the coming weeks.
Here's a list of all the phones that have been confirmed so far, as well as a list of others we can expect to see that might also feature Qualcomm's latest processor.
Xiaomi Mi 12
The first phone we have on our list that has been confirmed to come with the new processor is the Xiaomi Mi 12, which the company's CEO has announced will be launching soon.
We expect the Xiaomi Mi 12 to be unveiled in China in the next two weeks. It is likely to reach many other markets as well early next year.
Although Xiaomi will launch this phone first exclusively with the new processor, this does not necessarily mean that it will be the first phone with the same processor that will be available in markets outside of China.
OnePlus 10
The company's CEO Pete Lau confirmed on the Chinese social networking site Weibo that the upcoming flagship phone from the company will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.
Lau has yet to reveal the name of the phone, but we assume that the company's upcoming flagship series will be called OnePlus 10.
OnePlus 10 and OnePlus 10 Pro will come with the same processor, which is what we are used to, with Standard Edition and Pro Edition arriving every year with the same chipset.
Oppo Find X4
Although the company has not yet confirmed that the name of its next flagship phone will be Oppo Find X4, we know that the 2022 OPPO flagship phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.
Oppo is expected to unveil this awaited phone in March 2022. It is worth noting that the Find X3 series was officially unveiled in March of this year, so we think it makes sense that the next generation will be revealed about a year later.
Realme GT 2 Pro
Realme has been promoting its next smartphone over the past few days, and now officially we can say Realme GT 2 Pro will be one of the first phones to come powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.
This device is expected to be the first true flagship phone from the Chinese brand, which will be ready to compete with industry leaders like Apple and Samsung, so it wouldn't be surprising if it was actually launched with the new Qualcomm processor.
We don't know many details about the Realme GT 2 Pro, or when it will be officially launched, but with the company now starting to promote this phone, we expect to see it sooner rather than later.
Motorola Edge X30
We don't know the name of this upcoming phone yet, but during the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 reveal conference, we heard that a Motorola Edge series phone was chosen to pack the new chipset.
Motorola has officially confirmed that the upcoming phone will be officially unveiled at an event to be held on December 9, so we expect that phone to be the Motorola Edge X30. We still do not know yet if the phone will be launched in international markets or will be limited to China only.
Other expected phones
In addition to the phones we made on our list, we expect to see Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in many other flagships that will be launched over the next year. The phone with the highest odds of embracing that processor is Samsung Galaxy S22.
It is worth noting that Samsung is launching its flagship phones powered by the Exynos processor in some markets, while Qualcomm releases will arrive in some other countries.
However, several leaks indicated that all phones of the Galaxy S22 series will come with a Qualcomm processor, as Samsung is currently facing in the manufacture of its own Exynos processors.
Another phone that may come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor which is Huawei P60, as the company is also facing several hurdles in manufacturing Kirin processors. This huge shortage of silicon production will in turn affect the production of many phones.
There are other flagship phones that will be launched in 2022 and will come with that processor like Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 – Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, however, we have not yet received any official confirmation of this.
