A new leak for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series turns all the scales

A little surprising news, and contrary to expectations, Samsung may give up its Exynos processor. This means that Samsung Galaxy S23 and the rest of the series phones will come with a Snapdragon processor only, and there will be no Exynos version.

It seems that this is the end of the story for the controversial Samsung Exynos chipset, this was expected, especially after the high hopes that were placed on the Exynos 2200, but the chip in the end frustrated us all and made us stick more with the Snapdragon processor.

This new news comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, a source known to be close to Apple, who stated that Qualcomm will be the only supplier of Samsung Galaxy S23 series chipsets, specifically the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, which will come with a four-nm manufacturing node.

The same source confirmed that Samsung will abandon the idea of using the Exynos 2300 in its upcoming flagship phone lineup because it is absolutely certain that it cannot compete with the Qualcomm chip, and it cannot be compared in any way with the Gen 2, which will come from remarkable developments in the previous generation, specifically in terms of energy efficiency and strength.

He concluded at the end of his tweet that the bottom line of everything going on inside Samsung right now is that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will increase Qualcomm's near-total dominance of the Android flagship category even more.

There will be no Exynos version for Samsung Galaxy S23

For a buyer located in America and the United States, this won't make much difference. The Samsung Galaxy S series has always used Qualcomm chips in those markets, while in return it releases the Exynos version for certain markets, mostly in the Middle East, Europe and Asia.

But if you are reading this article and following our site regularly, you are probably not the average buyer, and you may have considered importing the Qualcomm version of the Samsung Galaxy S especially as it offers significantly improved performance compared to the Exynos version.

If Kuo is right, it seems that Samsung has finally succumbed to defeat and realized that its rosy dreams of making its own chips and trying to get close to Apple and its successes with the A and M series chipsets will not work in the end and that the performance of its chips on the ground is very frustrating for users.

Of course, Qualcomm may not be the only beneficiary of this decision - some budget phones last year embraced MediaTek chips, specifically Galaxy A32 4G, there was a strange rumor that the Samsung Galaxy S23 could adopt a chip from the same company.

But if those leaks are true, it seems that Samsung won't take any more risks and will instead stick to the tried and proven experience many times before, making Qualcomm the sole supplier of all Samsung flagships worldwide.
