Yesterday, Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S22 series. The smartphone series consists of three phones which are Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra. While the S22 Ultra is indeed the star of the show, let's not overlook the other two phones. In this article, we will take a look at both S22 and S22 Plus.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 starts at $799, while the S22 Plus starts at $999. Both come in only two versions which are 8 + 128 GB and the higher version is 8 + 256 GB. The duo comes in four colors: black, white, green and rose gold.
Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus Specs
In terms of specs, Samsung kept the same design as last year's phones especially on the back panel where we see the same style of camera module. The Galaxy S22 features a 6.1-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. On the other hand, the S22 Plus has a 6.6-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display.
Both screens support 120Hz refresh rate and have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Plus protection. As for the materials used in the design, the phones have a reinforced aluminum frame. The S22 monitor supports a peak brightness of 1,300 nits, while the Plus display supports a peak brightness of 1,750 nits.
In terms of cameras, both come with a triple rear camera setup. This time around, Samsung has replaced the 64MP main lens with the new 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor. The primary lens captures 12.5MP combined photos.
There is also a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Finally, there's also a 10MP telephoto sensor with 30x digital zoom and 3x optical zoom. The two phones also have a 10MP front camera.
Moreover, the two phones will be launched in two different versions, either with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor or Exynos 2200, depending on the region, which is the same method as with Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The main difference between the two phones lies in the battery. The Galaxy S22 has a 3700mAh battery with 25W fast charging support, while the Galaxy S22 Plus comes with a 4500mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging.
Both phones support 15W wireless charging. The phones run on the latest version of the OneUI 4.1 user interface based on the Android 12 operating system.
