September is still far away at the moment, but that hasn't stopped us from following all the leaks about iPhone 14. Now there's a new rumor claiming that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max could come with 8GB of RAM, the largest ever on an iPhone.
This rumor comes from South Korea. This is allegedly agreed to by all of Apple's internal sources and will actually be carried out. It is worth noting that the same source previously expected some changes to the iPad Mini 6, most of which have been achieved. So let's take that information a little more seriously.
This new news aligns with something we heard earlier via MacRumors. Where there has been talk about the possibility of launching the iPhone 14 Pro and the Pro Max version as well with 8 GB of RAM. We're not entirely sure about the reliability of that information, but the 8GB of RAM in the Pro version is quite reasonable.
So what does 8GB of RAM actually mean? For you, you can leave more open apps in the background without the system having to close them. On the best Android phones, many of which have 8GB or more, this means the software can be less aggressive about closing apps running in the background.
On iOS, things work similarly, but 8GB of RAM just means opening apps can theoretically happen faster than they do now on current iPhones.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max come with 6GB RAM and are the most powerful phones you can buy right now. So just imagine what 8GB could mean, especially when you consider the highly anticipated A16 Bionic processor.
Even the best Android phone right now is Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, struggling to match the iPhone 13 Pro in performance tests.
iPhone 14 Pro is expected to continue to widen the gap between Apple and the best devices in the Android world.
Android and iOS treat RAM completely differently. Many Android phone makers take an approach to ramping up RAM, while Apple is very particular about how iOS controls everything. From ensuring there's enough system memory to regulating battery usage, Apple takes a very different approach.
The iPhone 14 Pro that will come with 8GB RAM will send a warning message to any Android phone this year when it comes to performance although we don't know much yet about the A16 Bionic.
Unless Google's second-generation Tensor processor outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, it looks like Apple will once again win the battle for performance and internal hardware.
