Every year, technology lovers await the flagship Samsung Galaxy lineup with great eagerness. These devices come with powerful and powerful specifications and unique features that are unmatched by any other phone on the market, and the Samsung Galaxy S24 is certainly an extension of that situation because everyone has been impatiently waiting to see that phone since it was released. The S23 series will be unveiled in February 2023.
The time has already arrived and here we are in January, which is the date that means that we are facing the best period of almost every year, which coincides with Samsung launching its flagship phone lineup every year, and in 2024 we are on a date with the S24 series that was officially revealed in mid-January. As we have become accustomed to over the past few years, it comes with many features and powerful characteristics that we see for the first time and it seems that it promises a better user experience than before with a noticeable difference, which is what we will discover today together in our discussion of the specifications and price of the Samsung Galaxy S24 in addition to a detailed review of the Samsung Galaxy 2024 phone.
What does the Samsung Galaxy S24 bring us this year? Does it really meet expectations or just another phone with limited upgrades? Is it better to upgrade if you own a regular S23 or an older generation, or does it not offer attractive features? We will answer all these questions today in our article dedicated to the specifications and price of the Galaxy S24 and everything you want to know about the flagship Samsung phone for the year 2024.
The company launched the Samsung Galaxy S24 (alongside the Galaxy S24 Plus andGalaxy S24 Ultra) on January 17, 2024. It was made available for pre-order on the same day and shipped as of January 25.
At $800 for the 128GB version, the price of the Galaxy S24 remains roughly the same as it has been for two years, while the 256GB version is priced at $860. Learn more here.
Note that these are the official prices for the US market, and it will certainly differ and be higher than that in different markets due to many factors such as: customs, taxes, greed of merchants, etc., so we expect the price of the phone to reach $1000, perhaps in some countries.
The Galaxy S24 is very similar to the S23, but when you look at it closer, you'll discover that there's a newly added aluminum frame that gently eliminates sharp edges, making the Galaxy S24, and its Plus version, more comfortable to hold in the hand than previous years' models.
As long as you have a sensitive artistic taste, you will undoubtedly like this year's Galaxy S24 color lineup (black, grey, violet, yellow, green, orange, blue), with the camera notch rising more smoothly from the back panel. All of the color options on this phone are really cool, and I especially liked the new pink Galaxy S24 that looks like Movie Barbie.
This aluminum frame now also hosts a USB-C port; Which means you should be able to charge using just one cable. Apart from tweaking the materials and colours, the ceramic shield protecting the back of the phone still hosts a triple camera module diagonally, while on the front, we have the central punch-hole that houses the front camera.
This flat screen on the Galaxy S24 measures 6.2 inches as a full rectangle, but once you round the corners, it's 5.9 inches. These curved corners don't take up any usable space, but they do make reaching the top corners of the screen easier when using the phone with one hand.
The highlight of this 2340 x 1080 panel is the brightness and refresh rate. While the Galaxy S24 Ultra and S24 Plus displays are virtually unchanged from last year, the Galaxy S24 has been updated from 120Hz to a 40-120Hz variable frame rate. Last year's 1,000 nits brightness – up to 1,500 nits at auto maximum brightness – has also been updated to the same 1,200 nits and 2,600 nits maximum as the S24 Plus and Ultra.
You probably won't be able to notice the refresh rate – honestly, I still have a hard time telling the difference between 90Hz and 120Hz when looking alone – but that extra brightness will come in handy when using the phone outside. This phone was still easy to read in full Florida sunshine, even with dark mode on. Samsung displays are still among the best in the industry; If you're going to spend hours a day on your phone, the S24's display won't disappoint. Just make sure you get a good screen protector for the Galaxy S24: after six months, the pre-installed screen protector starts to peel off a bit.
The cameras on the Galaxy S24 are essentially unchanged from the Galaxy S23 – a 50MP wide-angle, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera that supports true 3x optical zoom.
The 50MP main camera can produce some nice shots, especially in daylight, but Samsung's handling still veers far from reality when it comes to colors and brightness. This is largely a matter of taste, but Samsung's photos tend to oversaturate colors and overbright objects, resulting in images that can look a bit flat and fake compared to the more realistic images from the Google Pixel series – both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7. Pixel 6a Most Cost.
Samsung returned to using Exynos processors in the standard Galaxy S24 model around the world, and chose the Exynos 2400 processor, which will be present in all global versions of the phone. A chipset can make or break your smartphone experience, but this is a flagship chipset and the user will have no issues with it at all.
The phone can get a little hot during heavy use, but it's not that hot temperature we're used to seeing in past generations. The phone also comes with 8 GB RAM and an internal storage capacity of 128, 256, or 512 GB, with the ability to expand the internal storage capacity by installing an external memory card.
Software has changed less than the hard drive in this generation. One UI 6.1 brings few upgrades over One UI 6.0 along with a simplified setup experience and some improvements to the Gallery and Camera app. Although, honestly, it's not like Samsung has much it needs to add. The One UI is so feature-packed at this point that it almost feels bloated when you're trying to search for a setting or function that you don't already know the location of.
One UI still has its fans and haters, but you can't deny its stability and solid capabilities. Switching between multiple resource-heavy apps is smooth, and extended gaming sessions remain smooth – well, unless you have more than a thousand 3D objects to render at once. Even after years of using Galaxy phones, you can still be surprised by small but important features like temporary mute or integration between sleep mode and morning alarm.
Samsung was able to include a slightly larger battery in the Galaxy S24, moving from a 3,900 mAh battery in the S23 to a 4,000 mAh battery in the S24. Unfortunately, the capacity is still very small and most phones in that price category come with larger batteries.
You'll get more than a day of battery life, and by "day" I mean picking up the phone at 7 a.m. and having a little juice left by 10 p.m. The phone supports the same 25W wired charging as its predecessor, along with fast wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare, if you want to charge the likes of the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Galaxy Watch 5, or even another phone, from the back of your phone. Like other great S24 features, Wireless PowerShare isn't turned on by default, but it's easy to find by digging into the settings.
It looks like there will be plenty of good reasons to upgrade to the Galaxy S24 if you're coming from an older model – like the S21. If you have newer phones, it may seem like the Galaxy S24 doesn't provide enough compelling reasons to pay for an upgrade, and that's absolutely true.
I really like the Samsung Galaxy S24 and would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a new, perfectly sized, powerful, long-lasting and attractive Android phone. It has a great screen, great cameras, and the best design of any Galaxy phone in recent memory. Of course, I said much the same thing about the Samsung Galaxy S23, and if I have a complaint, it's that Samsung hasn't put much effort into making revolutionary changes. I applaud the powerful new processor, larger battery and nicer design, but I wanted Samsung to take the next step and revolutionize the photography experience by including larger sensors, but it seems that this will be postponed until 2025.
What this means is that the Galaxy S24 is not a necessary upgrade for S23 owners. Likewise, I don't know that this is a phone that would appeal to Apple iPhone users (although the S24 Ultra might).
