5G networks are not widely supported at the moment with the exception of a few developed countries, but this has not prevented Samsung from releasing a lot of phones that support 5G networks in all price groups. Notably, the Samsung Galaxy M42 is the first 5G phone in the Galaxy M series.
Samsung did not skimp on anything in this phone, we have a powerful processor that is among the best in the entire middle class and at the same time the user will not compromise anything in exchange for that processor because we still get the same distinctive Super AMOLED screen, which is certainly good, but it has some fatal flaws.
The price of the Samsung Galaxy M42 mobile phone is 295 dollars, which equals 4600 Egyptian pounds, 1100 Saudi riyals, 1085 AED for the standard version 6 + 128 GB, while the higher version 8 + 128 GB was priced at 322 dollars - 5000 Egyptian pounds - 1200 SAR - 1182 UAE dirhams.
The phone was officially revealed on April 28, 2021 and was officially launched to the markets on May 1 of the same year, but only in India, since it is a phone in the middle class, it is expected that Samsung will launch it in all markets for sure, but according to a specific schedule that the company did not announce, the update will be This article immediately after the launch of the phone in various global markets.
Design is one of the Galaxy M42's main strengths. It's definitely a plastic design as expected in this price category, but it looks elegant thanks to the way the back is designed which makes the phone stand out when the light is reflected on it especially with the square rear camera module.
Here we have a 6.6-inch Infinity-U display that looks outdated at the moment with notably large bezels which is definitely something not all users want to see in 2021.
The display itself is not very good despite the Super AMOLED model. Well, we have excellent brightness levels so the user should not have to worry about using the phone under the hot sun which is something we definitely expect from Samsung screens. Unfortunately, the resolution of the phone is HD+, which makes us feel as if there is a missing piece.
Perhaps the biggest killer flaw of this phone is the lack of refresh rate support. It is worth noting that the M42 5G is just a renamed version of Galaxy A42 5G that was revealed last year, at the time the presence of a screen with a high refresh rate was only limited to flagship phones, but that doesn't change the fact that this is a screen with some annoying flaws.
There is a fingerprint sensor under the screen which is the first of its kind in any M phone. It works fine most of the time, certainly not as fast as the rest of the fingerprint sensors in Galaxy A32 , Galaxy A52 andGalaxy A72, but it is certainly not as bad as the rest of the fingerprint sensors that Samsung has been using in its mid-range phones in the past few years.
The best thing about this phone really is the performance and responsible for this is the Snapdragon 750G processor, which is one of the best processors in the mid-range, ensuring the user a fast using experience.
The phone's gaming performance is quite excellent as the Adreno 619 GPU handles all games with ease, from graphics-intensive games like Call of Duty and PUBG to simple games.
The internal setup is also special on the Galaxy M42, where we have 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage which can be expanded with a microSD card. Unfortunately, Samsung has equipped this phone with a hybrid SIM slot, so you can either use two SIM cards or one SIM and one microSD card.
When checking the battery specifications, some may worry that the phone will not have as long battery life as Galaxy M51as it has a 5,000 mAh battery while most other M series phones have at least 6,000 mAh batteries.
But with light to moderate use, the phone is expected to last a day and a half in many scenarios, and a full day with heavy use.
Fast charging isn't great, the 15W charger takes 2 hours to fully charge the battery which is a really long time that makes you feel as if the phone doesn't support fast charging in the first place. If you're in a hurry you can put the charger in for 15 minutes and it will charge up to 25% which will make it last for a few hours, but Samsung definitely should have included a 25W charger.
We won't go into too much detail about the Galaxy M42's cameras as after reviewing them carefully we felt that they are exactly the same as the one in the Galaxy M12, despite the difference in the prices of the two phones. The 48MP main camera takes fairly nice pictures in broad daylight, but it's not as sharp as you'd expect from a 48MP sensor. The quality of the night images captured can be improved by the dedicated night mode, and the following is a comparison of the phone with some competitors in the same price segment.
