OnePlus announced a phone in mid-2021, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G, after a series of leaks and rumors that raised the level of anticipation among fans of the Chinese brand. Although not the OnePlus Nord 2, it's a budget-friendly variant of the original Nord that was unveiled last year.
With features like a Snapdragon 750G processor, 30W fast charging, and a 90Hz display, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G comes with plenty of mid-range features that might appeal to people who are looking for a low-cost but fairly powerful phone.
The price of Nord CE 5G depends on which version you will choose, we have the 6/128 GB version which retails for INR 22,999 / €299 / $364. 8/128 GB version, priced at INR 24,999 / €329/$400. While the higher version 12/256 GB comes for INR 27,999 / € 399 / $485 but these prices are within India only.
Global pricing for the phone is $527 for the 8+128GB version. If you think that this price is high, we confirm your opinion and stand by you, and we think that OnePlus has launched the phone at a rather high price, there are many other options in this price category and significantly better among them which is OnePlus Nord that is currently sold for only $400.
The phone will be put up for sale in almost all markets, including Asia, Europe and the Middle East, which is certainly to the credit of OnePlus that it is still trying hard to improve the global availability of its phones in most countries, which will certainly contribute positively to increasing the company's profits and presence in those markets.
It is a very small phone, it weighs only 170g and is only 7.9mm thick. The device has a headphone jack and a USB-C port.
As for the screen, this is a 6.43-inch panel with FHD+ quality. It's an AMOLED, so the color fidelity should be excellent, and we have a 90Hz refresh rate for a smooth user experience.
There is an in-screen fingerprint scanner, which is definitely a strong feature for a mid-range phone, although it is a feature that the original Nord phone had.
The OnePlus Nord CE 5G comes with a 64MP main camera, which is definitely a high resolution sensor for a budget phone.
Joining that excellent sensor is an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and we also have a 2MP depth sensor which should also help with taking good portraits.
The phone has a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls, which is a pretty average sensor for a phone at this price, but it's supposed to be good for taking pictures and uploading them to social media.
The phone works on a 4500 mAh battery which is larger than that of the original Nord phone, which makes it able to power the phone for an entire day. If you use the phone lightly, the battery may definitely last longer.
There is 30W fast charging thanks to the company's Warp Charge 30T Plus technology. OnePlus says it only takes half an hour to charge the phone's battery to 70%.
The phone runs on a powerful processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G, which is a moderately powerful processor and is fairly decent and matches well with games, promising a fast user experience.
As the name suggests, Nord CE is 5G compatible, so you'll be able to use it to get fast download speeds if you're in an area that supports that feature.
Regarding the software, here we have the OxygenOS user interface, which is a very similar version of the raw Android, the operating system is Android 11, but it is likely that the phone will receive the Android 12 update at the end of this year. The company pledges to support the phone with three years of security updates and two years of software updates, so the phone should get at least the Android 13 update if not more.
