If you don't have enough pre-release information about the Samsung Galaxy S22 yet, these new leaks will surely make you feel a bit relaxed about the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event that will be taking place on February 9th.
These leaks come from technical blogger Evan Blass, through the newsletter he sends to subscribers. These leaks appear to be information from the ad campaign for phones in Italy that seemingly confirm many of the rumored specifications while also shedding light on the main differences between the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22 Plus andGalaxy S22 Ultra.
Galaxy S22 specifications
In the leaked informations, we see many of the measurements and specifications of the three phones, which we have summarized in the table below.
Phones | Galaxy S22 | Galaxy S22 Plus | Galaxy S22 Ultra |
Display | 6.1 inch Dynamic AMOLED FHD+ quality | 6.6 inch Dynamic AMOLED FHD+ quality | 6.8 inch Dynamic AMOLED QHD+ quality |
Refresh Rate | 120 Hz | 120 Hz | 120 Hz |
Rear camera | 50 MP wide lens 12 MP Ultra Wide Lens 10 MP Telephoto Lens | 50 MP wide lens 12 MP Ultra Wide Lens 10 MP Telephoto Lens | 108MP Wide Lens 12 MP Ultra Wide Lens 10 MP Periscope Telephoto Lens 10 MP Telephoto Lens |
Front camera | 10 MP | 10 MP | 40 MP |
CPU | Exynos 2200 | Exynos 2200 | Exynos 2200 |
Fast Charging | 25W | 45W | 45W |
The only difference we might see from these specs is the chipset. It seems that the source of these leaks is Italy, as mentioned above, whose phones will get the Exynos 2200 processor that we are expected to see in all series phones that will be released in Europe and the Middle East, however, it is possible that the phones that will be launched in the United States will use the Snapdragon 8 processor. Gen 1, which will offer slightly different performance and also won't use the AMD RDNA GPU found in the Exynos processor.
It seems that the screen will be one of the most prominent features of the S22. In the image above, Samsung mentions that the screen is "the brightest display ever in a Galaxy phone", offering a brightness of 1,300 nits and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz.

The only change all three phones will have in terms of the camera is an upgraded video mode, which Samsung describes as "the biggest leap in our video technology" and "more vivid and stable than ever" in the Italian marketing ad. The logo in the corner also says that the phone records videos at up to 8K resolution in Super HDR, which is definitely a notable upgrade over the 8K resolution of videos captured by the S21 series phones.
Galaxy S22 Plus specs
There seem to be many similarities between Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus. However, the primary difference is the screen size. While both phones are said to be smaller than the S21 series phones, the S22 Plus tends to remain a fairly large phone and will come with a 6.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED display that supports 1,300 nits peak brightness and 120Hz refresh rate.
Charging is the other major difference other than size. The standard version will only support 25W fast charging, as we saw on the S21 series. According to the leaked information, the S22 Plus and S22 Ultra will support 45W fast charging. We've seen this previously in the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, although Samsung included 25W chargers in the box.
We certainly won't get chargers in the box with the S22 series, as Samsung ended that tradition with last year's phones. If this is not enough proof, the promotional image above also shows that the phone package only contains the device, USB-C cable and SIM pin.
Galaxy S22 Ultra Specs
When talking about the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, the differences will clearly appear between it and the other two phones, you can see the full specifications mentioned in the above table.
It seems that the camera is the highlight of this phone from the other two devices that are designed differently and the front camera that comes with a resolution of 40 MP and the larger screen that comes with a peak brightness of 1750 nits.
The most prominent new information that we got from the leaks is a detail of the previously rumored SuperClear Lens that was installed in the main camera that comes with a resolution of 108 megapixels. Samsung described this lens as capturing images that are saturated with color and without any excessive flare.
The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is expected to take place on February 9, which is close to see the Galaxy S22 series, along with the Galaxy Tab S8 series of tablets. However, the actual release date of the S22 series will be farther than expected, due to some supply chain issues.
