Apple is scheduled to launch a new phone in its lineup for the year 2023 to be a replacement for the Pro Max version that we used to see since 2019, this phone will be called iPhone 15 Ultra and will come with powerful capabilities and distinctive specifications.
This phone is expected to come with an excellent rear camera comparable to the best camera phones in the market, and it will specifically include a periscope camera that supports high optical zoom capabilities, specifically like the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra that supports real zoom up to 10x, and thus Apple faces a serious challenge to catch up with the Korean company.
According to a recent report from South Korea, Apple plans to put a lot of effort into developing a decent telephoto camera, and the latest news indicates that the American company will use the services of the two Korean companies LG Innotek and Jahwa Electronics in order to design the OIS engines responsible for moving the periscope lens to zoom in or out.
Apple chose those two companies precisely because they had already cooperated with Samsung for the same feature, and indeed everyone praised the extent of the excellence of that camera and Samsung's creativity in the capabilities of real optical zoom on its flagship phone.
Apple seems to be aware of Samsung's clear advantage when it comes to true optical zoom capabilities on its flagship phones, and rather than trying to beat it by acting independently, the company has joined in — or at least set up a partnership with a Samsung supplier.
If Apple succeeds in adding a periscope lens to iPhone 15 Ultra that combines the iPhone's superior image-processing capabilities with Samsung's superior optical zoom technology, the phone could top the list of the best camera phones in the smartphone world when it launches later this year.
There is good news that this developed lens could come to the iPhone 16 Pro and Ultra models in 2024 instead of the Ultra model only, so this would definitely be a welcome change and a new feature that joins an additional phone instead of being exclusive to the higher model only.
Although all of this is still at the stage of rumors at the present time, but this news is closer to being true, given that Apple seeks to make this phone a beast and a better phone than the Pro Max version in stages.
