Launch of vivo IQOO 5 series: 120W fast charging, Snapdragon 865 and more

The popular iQOO sub-brand of Vivo, earlier today, launched two new phones: iQOO 5 and iQOO 5 Pro in China. Both phones will succeed the company's iQOO 3 series phones that were launched last year and also come with many leading specifications. Let us now take a closer look at the specifications, features and other aspects of the new iQOO 5 series of phones. Note that the iQOO 5 Pro will go on sale starting in September while the iQOO 5 will go on sale later this month. There is a good chance that we will see the launch of both phones in India and the rest of the countries soon.

vivo iQOO 5 series: price and versions

The vivo iQOO 5 was launched in China with three versions - as follows:

  • 8 + 128 GB: $575
  • 12 + 128 GB: $620
  • 12 + 256 GB: $665

Likewise, there are two different models of iQOO 5 Pro

  • 8 + 256 GB: $720
  • 12 + 256 GB: $795

Since both phones are almost the same when it comes to specifications and features, let's check out the main similarities and differences between the two phones.

The vivo iQOO 5 and iQOO 5 Pro both come powered by the same processor - which happens to be an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragonn 865. Both phones also come with the powerful Adreno 650 GPU which is currently the fastest CPU for Android devices. While there are differences in the storage capacities of both phones, the similarity is that both phones use the UFS 3.1 standard for data transfer.

The screen size and type on both devices remains the same. Both use a 6.56 inch AMOLED display, 19.8:9 aspect ratio, and 2376 x 1080 pixels resolution. Both screens come with a 120Hz refresh rate as well.

The primary, secondary, and front cameras on both devices are identical. Both phones get a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle secondary camera. On the front, both phones also get a 16-megapixel front camera.

Both phones are 5G ready and support almost the same types of networks.

the differences

The main differences between iQOO 5 and iQOO 5 Pro are in the camera and battery. For example, the third camera in the iQOO 5 is a 13MP portrait camera while the third camera in the iQOO 5 Pro is an 8MP telephoto periscope camera. iQOO 5 Pro also supports OIS while iQOO 5 supports OIS EIS.

Moving on to the battery capacity, the iQOO 5 gets the larger battery between the two with a capacity of 4500mAh while the iQOO 5 Pro comes with a smaller battery which has a capacity of 4000mAh. However, the latter features 120W fast charging support. The iQOO 5, on the other hand, comes with a 55W charger - which means it's definitely not slow at all.
