Another year of innovation: Samsung officially unveils the Samsung Galaxy S23 series

Samsung has officially unveiled the new generation of its smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup, which the company says represents “a new era of the ultimate premium mobile experience from Samsung Galaxy phones.” Thanks to the new chip, improved cameras, and more, the Galaxy S23 series may be the standard of excellence that All competing Android phones should beat it in 2023.

No drastic changes to the S23 and S23 Plus

takes possession of both Galaxy S23 and S23 More The lion's share of the changes and new features in that series, as they are designed to better match the design of the Galaxy S23 Ultra (which looks almost identical to the S22 Ultra). This means that the rear camera island has been replaced with three individually protruding sensors while the rest of the phones' components remain flat as is. In general, the design is certainly beautiful and clean as well, which is the most prominent feature, that is, you can now avoid dust gathering between the lenses, which is a very common problem in Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Flat screens remain pretty much the same as before, coming in at 6.1 and 6.6 inches respectively, FHD+ resolutions, and 120Hz dynamic refresh rates. However, Samsung has increased the brightness level in the standard version, as it will now match the peak brightness of 1,750 nits found in the S23 Plus and S23 Ultra.

All three phones run on the current most powerful chip in the Android world, which is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which we have seen previously in some phones, but this chip is specially designed for the Galaxy S23 series and will support all phones in the series in all markets worldwide. This chip has succeeded in beating the standard version of Snapsdragon 8 Gen 2 that powers the new Android flagship phones for the current year, which means that it is an exclusive upgrade for new Samsung phones and a welcome addition for sure.

The S23 and S23 Plus come with 8 GB of RAM and only two options for internal storage; 128 or 256 GB for the standard phone, and 256 GB for the Plus version. Thankfully, Samsung has learned from its previous mistake and increased the battery capacity of both, with the S23 coming powered by a 3,900mAh battery, while the S23 Plus runs on a 4,700mAh battery. Unfortunately, the fast charging capability remains the same at 25W and 45W respectively.

In terms of cameras, we still have the triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary sensor in both phones, along with a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP telephoto camera that supports up to 3x optical zoom. But the front camera has been upgraded to 12MP, which helps enable faster autofocus and Super HDR selfies. This camera can also shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second, which will contribute to an impressive photography experience.

Galaxy S23 Ultra is completely focused on the camera experience

The S23 Ultra has a 6.8-inch QHD+ display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. As for the internal specifications, there are three versions of the phone, the first comes with a capacity of 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage capacity, or you can choose one of the two versions of 12 + 512 GB or 1 TB. The battery remains the same at 5,000mAh with support for 45W fast charging.

However, the biggest camera upgrade comes to Galaxy S23 Ultra, which comes powered by Samsung's new 200MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor. Samsung touts that sensor and its dedicated “Nightography” mode thanks to its ability to gather more light when pixels are combined. Thanks to pixel binning, Galaxy S23 Ultra can combine four pixels to get a 50MP image or combine 16 pixels to get a 12.5MP image. Thanks to AI processing and improved optical image stabilization (OIS), less noise should occur in taking photos and videos, especially in low-light conditions.

100x Space Zoom is also available, but with almost twice the resolution, we expect the results to be much better than previous generations. And for those who want to capture 8K video, the new sensor can do so at 30fps.

Phone prices and market availability

Galaxy S23 series prices start at $ 800 for the basic model, $ 1,000 for the S23 Plus, while the S23 Ultra will be sold for $ 1,200. Each of the three phones comes with the same color options: black, green, lavender, cream, and the phones will start arriving in various markets and countries starting from February 17.
