Today, Samsung announced all the phones of Samsung Galaxy S21, the new family consists of three powerful phones, great screens, support for 5G, and in the most powerful model, which is the Ultra version, we have S Pen support.
We have the same number of devices as last year's series: the standard S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra with the highest specifications and the highest price. Two other new products were also revealed: Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, a competitor to AirPods Pro, and Samsung Galaxy SmartTag trackers.
Perhaps the biggest news is that each of the new phones comes at a cheaper price than the series of Samsung Galaxy S20 Which was revealed last year, although there are some compromises in terms of specifications.
Samsung Galaxy S21 series phones prices
The price of the Samsung Galaxy S21 starts at $ 800, while the price of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus starts at $ 1,000 for the initial version of both phones, which comes with 8 GB RAM + 128 GB of internal storage space.
The S21 Ultra starts at $ 1,200 for the lowest version, 12 + 128 GB. They are really excellent prices, which saves $ 200 compared to the prices of the Samsung Galaxy S20 andGalaxy S20 Plus andGalaxy S20 Ultra from last year.
Standard S21 and Plus edition specs
To reach these pricing, the Samsung S21 and S21 Plus both have flat screens in sizes of 6.2 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively at 1080 x 2400 pixels rather than the 1440 x 3200 resolution found on the S20 phones, although both have refresh rates at a limit. Maximum at 120 Hz.
The two phones also come with an initial 8 GB RAM, unlike 12 GB RAM in previous phones. But other than that, they both have a powerful Snapdragon 888 or Exynos 2100 processor depending on the market or country you are going to buy the phone from, and 128GB of primary storage space, with a 4,000mAh battery in the S21 and a 4800mAh battery in the S21 Plus.
The Samsung S21 and S21 Plus have roughly the same rear and front camera setup from last year, with a 12MP main camera, 64MP telephoto camera, and 12MP ultra-wide cameras, though, so the S21 Plus ditched the TOF sensor.
Video shooting just got more premium, with the director mode allowing you to see live thumbnails and switch lenses while recording.
The new mode, Vlogger View, allows you to shoot video with both front and rear cameras simultaneously, a feature previously seen in LG Wing 5G, also recording with multiple microphones.
Finally, you can now record 8K video and grab single high-resolution photos for use as still photos.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with all of these features and much more.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra: the new king of Android phones
The Samsung S21 Ultra has a lot to offer compared to other phones in the series, with a Snapdragon 888 or Exynos 2100 chipset, 12GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage space for the smaller version.
We have a battery capacity of 5000 mAh, and most importantly, support for the S Pen. The Samsung stylus will be sold separately and can be placed in custom cases, there is no possibility to expand the internal storage space, as is the case in the series of Galaxy Note 20.
Other than that, the 6.8-inch AMOLED screen is the only one among all the series phones that comes with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels that can operate simultaneously along with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, making it the first of its kind for Samsung's previous flagship phones. Previously, it had to choose between the highest resolution or refresh rate.
But the most powerful phone in the series also comes with another feature that distinguishes it from its siblings: it has two telephoto sensors in the rear camera, with support for true optical zoom up to 3x optical and 10x respectively, which combine together to obtain more stable shots while zooming in.
Other rear cameras include a 108MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide lens, while the front camera comes with 40MP resolution - each camera in the phone can capture 8K video at 60 frames per second.
Samsung paints the roadmap for the future
The Samsung Galaxy S21 series launched a month earlier than usual, as the flagship Samsung phones are usually revealed at the time of the annual MWC conference in late February. But because the MWC 2021 has been postponed until the end of next June if not later, it was imperative for Samsung to have the necessary freedom to launch its flagship phones early and set the path for 2021.
The Samsung S21 lineup may set the general benchmarks for this year, especially in price: Any phone with a higher price will have a slightly harsh response in comparison. It's not the first phone to drop in price from the previous year; Google Pixel 5 was released at a significantly cheaper price than the Pixel 4, and although some of the features in the phone were curtailed, this step won everyone's admiration.
We'll have to see how this year's other flagships will play a pivotal role in their strategies to match or outpace the flagship Samsung Galaxy S21 series phones with reasonable prices.
