Apple iPhone SE 2 launched with A13 Bionic chipset and iPhone 8 design

iPhone SE 2 finally launched! It seems that the rumors and leaks were finally right. The new budget Apple phone does not come with any surprises and offers really average features and specifications. This means that buyers will get a smartphone that looks like the iPhone 8 but has the A13 Bionic processor that debuted with the flagship iPhone 11 series, and includes the main specifications of iPhone SE 2 Touch ID sensor, 4.7 inch LCD screen with HD resolution, single 12MP camera on the back, wireless charging.

iPhone SE 2 specifications

Compared to the 4-inch screen in the original iPhone SE, the second-generation model comes with a larger 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels and support for HDR10. The screen is still LCD and the aspect ratio is also stuck at 16:9. In fact, in terms of design, it would be difficult to differentiate the iPhone SE 2020 from the iPhone 8/7/6s/6. The phone uses Haptic Touch for quick actions like moving Live Photos Preview messages, rearrange apps, etc., as well as contextual menus.

However, the smartphone differs a lot on the inside thanks to the A13 Bionic Hexa-core processor, which Apple called the most powerful processor in the world. It is complemented by iOS 13, which must be upgraded to at least four years in the future. There is no clarity on how much RAM the phone will have but we think it will be 2GB, but we know it will come with 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options, without support for a micro SD card slot.

Premium camera as usual from Apple

On the back, the phone has a single 12-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture, dual pixel PDAF, OIS, dual-tone flash, dual-LED. Key camera features include 4K video shooting and Slow Motion video; Furthermore, users will be able to capture 8MP still photos while capturing 4K videos. On the front side, there is a 7 MP front camera with f / 2.2 aperture, portrait mode and on-screen flash. Of course, there is no Face ID on a smartphone; Instead, the phone comes with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor in the home button for biometric authentication.

The phone's battery capacity is unknown at the moment, but Apple says it offers the same life as the iPhone 8. It also supports fast charging and is claimed to go from 0 to 50 percent in 30 minutes using an 18W fast wired charger. It also supports the Qi wireless charging standard, so it can be used with most wireless charging pads. There is no 3.5mm audio jack, of course, and buyers will have to use a Lightning jack.

In terms of connectivity options, the phone comes with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, dual SIM cards, and a Lightning port. Mobile data connectivity is limited to 4G LTE only even in markets like the US, which means 5G is not supported on a budget smartphone. The smartphone is also IP67 rated for water and dust resistance and can withstand up to a meter underwater for up to 30 minutes. The dimensions of the phone are 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm and it weighs 148 grams.

Phone price

iPhone SE 2020 price in India starts at $550 for the base variant with 64GB of storage. Customers will also be able to purchase the phone in 128GB and 256GB storage options, although pricing for these variants has yet to be revealed. The price of the phone seems steep considering that the previous version starts at $399 in the US. However, it should be noted that a similar price difference was observed in the prices of the rest of the markets and the United States of the first generation iPhone SE model.

The company has not yet revealed that sales of the smartphone will start in the rest of the world, but it will be available for purchase starting April 24 in the United States. iPhone SE 2 will come in black and white colors and red.
