The iPhone 12 mini is for people who want a powerful iPhone with a great processor, great cameras, and 5G support, but don't want a bulky phone. So, if you are looking for an excellent smartphone that gives you a powerful performance in a small size, then the iPhone 12 mini is the right choice.

The phone was launched along with iPhone 12 The standard model, another Pro and a fourth Pro Max, which is the smallest, thinnest and lightest 5G phone ever, but that doesn't miss anything at all.

Apple did not make many concessions in that version compared to the higher phones, there is still the mighty Apple A14 Bionic processor and the distinctive Retina screen.

This is a historic moment for Apple as the company has never before made a smaller version of its flagship phones, and it is clear that it recognizes the fact that there is a large segment of iPhone users who do not want bulky phones, so iPhone 13 It may seem like an ideal option for a lot of users next year.

The price of the iPhone 12 mini in Egypt is 15,000 Egyptian pounds (64/4 GB), while the price of the highest model reaches 16,500 Egyptian pounds (128/4 GB), the price of the iPhone 12 Mini in Saudi Arabia starts from 3,000 Saudi riyals for the first model ( 64 GB).

The price of the phone in dollars is as follows:-

  • 64GB version $700 700
  • 128 GB version $750
  • 256 GB version 850 dollars

The phone comes without earphones in the box and no charger as well, as Apple looks to reduce electronic waste. If you want some new Apple headphones, we recommend you buy any version of AirPods.

Design and display

The design of the mobile is very similar to the standard iPhone 12, other than being smaller. Both phones share a lot of specifications with the iPhone 11, and they also share that they come with flat edges like the old iPhone phones, but the aluminum structure, the square rear camera unit and the screen with the large notch in the middle are features taken from the iPhone 11.

The phone has IP68 protection, so it is dust-resistant, and it can withstand water up to six meters deep for up to half an hour.

Apple calls the iPhone 12 mini the world's smallest, thinnest, and lightest 5G phone, and given the size of most 5G phones right now, this phone sounds like a pretty good deal.

The Mini Edition comes in the same colors as the standard model: black, white, red, navy and pale green.

The phone has the same magnetic loop as the MagSafe charger on the back, allowing you to attach cases, wallets, and wireless charging pads.

The phone comes with a 5.4 inch Super Retina XDR display, 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution and 1200 nits brightness.

There is a layer of protection on the screen in reinforced ceramic, which is basically an ultra-strong type of glass that Apple says offers 4 times stronger protection against drops than the protection layer on the screens of the iPhone 11 series phones.

Camera review and detailed specifications

On paper, the camera setup looks very similar to a phone iPhone The previous iPhone 11, but there are enough tweaks to justify the price of the phone and note that this is exactly the same camera setup found on the standard model, so you can be sure you don't miss out on anything by choosing the smaller phone.

There is a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera with an f/1.6 lens slot, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with an f/2.4 lens slot.

There's no telephoto sensor here, as there is on the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, and that means your zoomed in shots won't look that impressive, as there's no dedicated camera to do the heavy lifting.

Apple's cameras are among the best smartphone sensors in the world, and the main camera performed very well in our tests.

Low-light performance is the main improvement over the last series, according to Apple, largely due to the main camera aperture which was f/1.8 on the iPhone 11 to f/1.6 here, and we certainly found the camera to perform very well in dark places.

Apple's Night Mode works with both the rear cameras this year and the front camera as well.

Recording video on iPhone 12 mini is impressive, you can record in 4K at 24, 30 or 60 frames per second, HD recording is also available along with features like Slow-Motion.

The biggest advantage from here in the camera is Dolby Vision HDR, and in our testing we found the quality to be noticeably better than that of the regular clips we shot, with shots looking colorful and full of detail.

It's a solid upgrade for those who want better video quality, even if that's no reason to buy this phone.

The front camera is another 12MP sensor, which is more than suitable for selfies and video calls. The quality is great, and Portrait mode works great thanks to the 3D depth sensor of Face ID.

Inner gear and performance

The size of the mobile may be small, but it certainly does not lack in power. It has the latest processor from Apple, the A14 Bionic.

The processor is the same processor that you will find in the other models that Apple launched in 2020, and it is the most powerful processor in any smartphone at all.

There's 4GB of RAM, and while that might not match the RAM capacity of many other manufacturers' flagship phones, we found that it didn't detract from the iPhone 12 mini at all. If you need more RAM, my Pro phone comes with 6GB of RAM, but for most people, 4GB is fine.

One problem that many can suffer from is the internal storage: you can choose between 64, 128 or 256 GB. If you need more, you will have to opt for the iPhone 12 Pro if you are a power user, which starts at 128GB and extends up to 512GB

The truth is, 64GB isn't a lot of space on a phone these days, and most people won't take long to fill it up with apps, photos, music, and other media.

We found that after just a week of loading the phone with apps and media, we're close to the limit, so you'll likely need more space if you don't want to see through a notification your storage is full at some point.

The phone comes with iOS 14.2 out of the box, so you have all the benefits of the latest version of the operating system from Apple, like the App Store and home screen widgets.

You should expect this phone to get updates at least for the next few years as well, as Apple keeps sending updates to users.

Apple has yet to confirm the exact battery size of the device, but sources inside the company indicate that the battery has a capacity of 2,227 mAh. As with the latest iPhone models, battery life has improved compared to older devices, but it still won't give you the best life compared to other competing phones.

We've found that the device will last a full day on a single charge, but in most cases you'll need to charge the phone at 10pm after a high day of use.

On a day of medium to high intensity use, we found the iPhone 12 mini made it to the end of the day with 22% remaining on battery capacity. That was 4 hours and 20 minutes of screen time, and a variety of tasks running in the background like playing music and using phone data for some time.

If you're always switching between a 5G and 4G connection, you'll likely see battery life drop because of that as well. We found on days when we were away from Wi-Fi that battery life drops faster.

Apple says the phone will last up to 15 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 are both capable of working for 11 hours, and these claims are accurate based on our tests, and they reflect how different battery life is between iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 eldest.

MagSafe Charger

Apple has improved its fast charging technology here on the phone, which means you can now get 20W fast charging. What does that really mean? We found that the iPhone 12 mini was able to charge from zero to 60% in just 30 minutes.

It's also important to note that our charging was with the Apple MagSafe charger. If you want to get the most out of these speeds, you'll need to purchase this charging kit if you don't already have it for $40.

This is part of Apple's mission to reduce electronic waste, so you only have a charging cable in the box. The problem is that the cable is USB-C to Lightning, which is a connector that many previous iPhone owners don't have, so you'll likely have to buy a charger to get the most out of wired charging.

But wireless charging is generally the best solution for charging a phone, and this generally worked well in our tests.

Using MagSafe Quick Charger. We found that the phone was able to charge 12% in half an hour.

This is slower than all the other iPhone 12 series phones. But that makes sense as the lower phone in the series.

You'll likely find that the battery life on the iPhone 12 mini is better than on an older iPhone like the iPhone 8, especially if you've been using an older phone for a few years, but that's not going to be the best battery life you can get from a smartphone.

Phone features

  • Compact and Compact: This may sound obvious, but this phone's biggest selling point is its unique size. If you want to buy an iPhone and want a smaller device, this is the perfect choice for you and it is one of the smallest 5G phones in the market as well.
  • 5G Support: If you are keen on taking advantage of 5G connectivity, the iPhone 12 mini is one of the first opportunities to do so. At the time of writing, 5G is still a nascent technology, but if you're ready to experience blazing upload speeds, you should buy it to be ready for the future.
  • The mobile is the cheapest phone ever offered by Apple in its series of phones in 2020, but its specifications will suggest to you that it is the opposite. The specs and user experience are much better than the iPhone SE 2, so if you are looking for a phone that is cheaper than the iPhone 12, you should buy this model.

Phone defects

  • Not the best deal you could get from Apple: The iPhone 12 Pro Max is definitely the best phone in the series, and if you want the best specs with high-end cameras and some great performance, you should buy this phone. The price difference may be intimidating, but he or the 12 Pro will suit some much better than that mini phone.
  • Slow Charging Technology: Wireless charging on the iPhone 12 mini is slower than the rest of the series, so if you don't want to wait a lot of time for your phone to charge, you might want to choose another phone in the family instead.
