Finally, after a lot of delays and a long wait, Apple announced the new generation of its flagship iPhone series, which is iPhone 12 At the Hi, Speed event held by the company at its headquarters in California in order to reveal the most awaited range of phones. In a precedent that occurred for the first time, the iPhone 12 series includes four phones: iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
iPhone 12 vs iPhone 11: What are the new features?
- iPhone 12 has an OLED screen, instead of an IPS LCD
- iPhone 12 has the same A14 processor as in iPhone 12 Pro
- The iPhone 12 body has flat sides, which are those found in the new iPad Air and iPad Pro
- iPhone 12 comes with a slightly upgraded rear camera, a wider aperture and improved software processing
- iPhone 12 comes with support for a redesigned MagSafe charger. The phone is compatible with chargers and magnetic accessories
iPhone 12 design and screen
The design of the iPhone 12 is a mixture of modernity and sticking to the ancient origins. Take a look from the front and you will see that it looks like iPhone XS And all subsequent phones that were launched after it. If you look at the phone from the side, you will see beautiful flat sides that will remind you of the classic look of the iPhone 5.
The iPhone 12 body is made of aluminum, as usual, along with a glass back to support wireless charging. Here we go again, as stainless steel is only exclusive to the Pro phone.
iPhone 12 comes in five different colors, black, red, gray, green and blue.
The rear back didn't get much upgrades in fact, we still got a dual rear camera, no telephoto lens, if you want three cameras, you can head to iPhone 12 Pro.
In general, the iPhone 12 is thinner, lighter and slightly smaller than the iPhone 11.
The big improvement was in the screen. No, no, I'm not talking here about 120 Hz. Unfortunately, this feature did not reach the iPhone 12. But, at least, the screen is OLED now. Deep blacks, vibrant colors, crisper animations and thinner frames. It also has the same Super Retina XDR feature found on the higher versions, plus it supports HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG.
iPhone 12 has a 6.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It has a pixel density of 457 pixels per inch, which is sharper than the previous phone's 324 pixels per inch.
iPhone 12 . camera
The iPhone 12 doesn't come with a triple camera, but it certainly still has a flagship camera. So, we have a 12MP wide-angle camera and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. But the aperture is significantly larger - F/1.6 compared to the F/1.8 on the iPhone 11. This means that the sensor will get more light coming in, making it easier to get steady shots and improving your shooting experience in low-light conditions.
Apple has also upgraded the Deep Fusion processing system for better results, the night mode has been improved as well, and Smart HDR has been updated to Smart HDR 3. This last feature improves detail in terms of surroundings and texture as well.
Night mode now works with all iPhone 12 rear cameras and the front camera as well.
And speaking of the selfie camera, well, we have a 12MP sensor again, that sensor seems to be the same as the one in the iPhone 11, so that's okay.
What about the hardware?
All four iPhone 12 series phones are powered by Apple A14 processor. It is Apple's new super processor built on 5nm manufacturing precision. This means more production capacity, and less energy consumption. Apple's processors have always been very powerful and we expect the iPhone 12's performance to not disappoint.
In terms of storage options, the basic version comes with 64GB, which is still good enough for the average user. If you're among the people who spend a lot of time on the phone, you can still get 64GB, but you'll need to cut your usage somewhat.
There are two other versions that come with 128GB and 256GB max.
